200 HR Yoga TTC in India: How to Adjust to a Full-Time Yogic Routine
You are not a yogi yet and you need not to fake it when you join a 200 hr yoga TTC in India.
Maybe you sleep too late, you reach for your phone as soon as you open your eyes, you eat at weird times, you work long days, stay up at nite to watch something, and can’t sit still for ten minutes.
Maybe the lifestyle you are living now is not much like the disciplined lifestyle you would expect of a yogi.
And that is fine.
Coming to Rishikesh does not automatically transform you from your daily routine to a full-time yogic routine. Your body has habits of its own.
Here in this guide you will learn how your habits will be changed with time, gentle push and right guidance during your training.
The First Challenge Is To Wake Up Early
One of the biggest adjustments in a 200 hr yoga ttc is getting up earlier than you normally would.
If you normally hit the snooze button a few times, scroll through notifications and then run into the day, waking up before sunrise can feel almost unnatural at first.
You may be wondering, “How am I supposed to do this every day?
The answer is: you don’t need to be a whole different person overnight.
Your body needs some time.
Don’t try to force yourself into a rigid timetable straight away. Instead, start fine-tuning your sleeping and waking hours gradually before you get there. Go to bed 20-30 minutes earlier every couple of days Put your phone away from your bed. Wake Up Without Reaching For A Screen
These small changes teach your nervous system that mornings can start quietly.

You Don’t Have to Arrive With Perfect Discipline
There’s a myth that all of those who come into teacher training already have amazing discipline.
They don’t.
Some students have years of meditation experience. Some people can’t sit quietly for five minutes. Some eat mindfully every single day. Others are addicted to coffee and late dinners, and irregular meals.
The goal of a 200 hr yoga ttc in India isn’t to give a pat on the back to people who already have the perfect yogic lifestyle. It is to give you an environment where a different way of life can slowly become possible.
The early mornings, yoga, meditation, study times, meals, rest and evening routines begin to find a routine. Eventually, what felt hard starts to feel familiar.
And transition happens. You don’t have to force yourself anymore.
Prepare Your Body Before You Arrive
You don’t need to train like an athlete before going to a 200 hr yoga ttc. In fact, hours of intense yoga practice is often the perfect way to burn yourself out before you have even started training.
Instead, be consistent.
Try gentle yoga 20-30 minutes a day for two or three weeks before you arrive. Add in some simple movements, Sun Salutations, some easy seated poses and a few minutes of breath.
Flexibility is not the goal.
What we want to do is train your body to see movement as part of your daily routine.
You can also start to sit quietly for five or ten minutes without entertainment. No music. No telephone. No Podcasts
At first you may notice how noisy your mind really is.
That is a good realization.
Food May Be Another Adjustment
For many students, food becomes one of the most unexpected parts of residential training.
When you are used to eating whenever you want, ordering whatever you crave, or having heavy meals late at night, a more structured yogic diet can feel unfamiliar.
Don’t approach this with fear or with the mindset that you have to become extremely restrictive.
Before your 200 hr yoga ttc in India, simply start noticing how different foods affect your energy. Try eating dinner a little earlier. Reduce excessively heavy late-night meals. Drink more water. Eat slowly instead of eating while staring at your phone.
You are not trying to prove that you can survive on discipline.
You are learning to listen to your body.
The Hardest Part May Be Being Away From Your Normal Life
There is another adjustment that people don’t always talk about.
You might get homesick.
You may yearn for your partner, your family, your favorite food, your own bed, your work routine or just the freedom to spend an entire evening doing absolutely nothing.
There might even be times that you ask yourself why you came.
That doesn’t mean the experience is failing.
When the usual distractions fall away, emotions that were buried under a busy lifestyle can become more noticeable.
A thoughtful 200 hr yoga ttc in india gives you the space to experience that, instead of running away from it right away.
Your Yogic Routine Doesn’t Have to End After Training
The real success of 200 hr yoga ttc is not whether you can follow a strict schedule while you have lived at a yoga school.
The question is, can you take something from that schedule back into ordinary life?
If the idea of a full time yogic routine sounds interesting and a little scary, no problem. You don’t need to have all the answers before you get there.
At Nirvana Yoga School we recognize that most students walking in the door are not lifelong yogis. They are people who choose to put their lives on hold, learn something meaningful and discover what happens when they give themselves fully to the practice.
